Chiropractic Therapies - Traction & Decompression

Although Dr. Berman’s main method of treatment is the spinal manipulation, he also uses a combination of other therapies to treat his patients.

Spinal Traction

Dr. Berman uses traction to treat a variety of his client’s spinal pain. Spinal traction stretches muscles and ligaments and increases the space between the vertebrae. The goal is to relieve the pain caused by the pinched nerves and possibly increase the range of motion.
There are different techniques used in spinal traction, both manual and mechanical. Manual traction, which is when a patient lies down and Dr. Berman uses his hands to apply support and stretching.  There is also mechanical traction.  Inversion therapy is a form of mechanical traction that uses a person's own body weight and gravity to stretch the spine. Spinal Decompression Therapy is a form of mechanical lumbar traction.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal Decompression Therapy is a leading non-surgical alternative for disc related syndromes of the lumbar and cervical spine. Decompression Therapy uses simple, yet sophisticated equipment manufactured by the leading rehabilitation equipment manufacturer in the US. The gentle distractive forces of the Triton® DTS spinal decompression equipment creates decompression, the unloading due to distraction and proper positioning, to improve blood flow and important nutrient exchange to the injured area.
